Assessment and Diagnosis of Autism
We provide diagnostic assessments of Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC’s). We offer a Consultant Paediatrician led Autism Assessment Pathway with specialists who work collaboratively to carry out autism diagnosis’. We provide Specialist multi-disciplinary autism diagnostic assessments for children aged between 2 and 16 years of age.
All of our diagnostic assessments follow NHS guidelines and are accepted by the NHS, Social Services and Education Authorities.
We use diagnostic assessment tools that are recommended by the National Institute of Clinical Effectiveness (NICE).
Assessment for Children
Our assessments include:
- A specialist and comprehensive interview to learn about your child’s social communication and social interaction development.
- The Autism Assessment Questionnaire for educational setting to complete.
- The Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, second edition (ADOS-2). The ADOS-2 is a structured observation that assesses a child’s social communication and their interaction style with an unfamiliar adult.
- A review of reports and information from past assessments with other professionals.
- Immediate feedback with a face-to-face discussion of the assessment outcome.
- A review of reports and information from past assessments with other professionals.
- A comprehensive and detailed report within one to two weeks of the assessment. The report contains details about how the conclusion was reached with recommendations based on the needs identified from assessment. This may include recommendations of management strategies for your child, educational setting and family. Recommendation of resources that may be helpful for ongoing support for areas of need identified will be provided alongside relevant local support services, and recommendations for current or future education..
We strive to provide the highest quality of service, with our clients and referrers needs central to what we do.
We complete assessments for patients within 4-6 weeks from point of accepting referral to the Autism Assessment Pathway.
